The #35 Alpine, driven by Ferdinand Habsburg, set the pace in the first Hypercar qualifying session for the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans at the Circuit de la Sarthe, securing its place in Thursday evening’s Hyperpole fight.
Habsburg delivered the benchmark lap ahead of the #12 Cadillac Hertz Team Jota and the #101 Cadillac WTR, putting Alpine at the head of a tightly contested opening phase. Afterwards, the Austrian thanked his mother for believing in him, adding a personal note to a result that carried real competitive weight.

The outcome also reinforced Alpine’s strong start to the Le Mans week, following recent focus on its Hypercar package. For more on that build-up, read our analysis of how Alpine’s Le Mans aero update has boosted confidence.
While Alpine and Cadillac moved forward, several notable Hypercar entries failed to progress. Stoffel Vandoorne in the #93 Peugeot missed out, as did the #83 AF Corse Ferrari and the #94 Peugeot.

The #83 AF Corse Ferrari’s elimination was particularly significant given that the car won the race outright last year, but it will now start from P17, between the #93 Peugeot in P16 and the #94 Peugeot in P18.
Under the qualifying format, the top 15 entries from each of the three classes advance to the next day’s Hyperpole sessions, where the best starting positions in each category remain up for grabs.
In LMP2, Doriane Pin produced the quickest time for the #30 Duqueine Team entry, placing it at the front of the class order. The #37 CLX Motorsport car followed, with the #343 Inter Europol Competition entry third fastest.
Pin’s performance ensured the Duqueine Team machine carries strong momentum into the class’s Hyperpole phase, where the final grid picture will be decided.
In LMGT3, the #34 Racing Team Turkey by TF entry, driven by Peter Dempsey, initially topped the timing sheets ahead of the #77 Proton Competition and the #23 Heart of Racing Team.
However, on Thursday morning, the #34 car was disqualified after its rear diffuser strake height was found to be illegal. That penalty moved the car to the back of the order and promoted the #77 Proton Competition entry to class pole.
With Hyperpole now set, the 2026 Le Mans 24 Hours qualifying story has already delivered pace, pressure and a major post-session twist.
