Fernando Barichello will make his first appearance on the Goodwood Hillclimb this week when he drives the Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE for Jaguar TCS Racing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The Brazilian, son of Formula One race winner Rubens Barichello, will take part as Formula E and its teams use the event to showcase the next phase of electric racing technology. His run forms part of a wider Goodwood presence for the championship, with Formula E presenting its latest innovation push ahead of the incoming GEN4 era. Jaguar describes the GEN4 proto_TYPE as its most advanced race car to date. The car is currently undergoing an intensive test programme before the opening rounds of the 2026/2027 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in December.
The performance figures underline why Goodwood is a significant public stage for the project. GEN4 is capable of more than 335kph, accelerating from 0-100kph in approximately 1.8 seconds and from 0-200kph in 4.4 seconds. That latter figure is 1.5 seconds quicker than its predecessor.

In race mode, GEN4 will deliver 50% more power than the current GEN3 Evo car. Formula E expects the new car to be an average of 10 seconds faster per lap than GEN3 in qualifying mode. In ATTACK MODE, output rises to 600kW, a 71% increase over the GEN3 Evo’s base output. It is also the only single-seater race car with permanent all-wheel drive.
Barichello arrives with race-winning experience in Euroformula Open and is currently competing in FIA Formula 3. Goodwood, however, will be new territory.
“I am honoured to drive for Jaguar TCS Racing at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed,” Barichello said. “It is the first time I have driven the famous Hillclimb, and to do it with a World Championship-winning team is a real privilege. It is going to be very exciting to drive the Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE at Goodwood.”
Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal Ian James called the appearance a milestone for both the team and Formula E, adding that giving young talent a platform remains important to Jaguar.
“Putting the Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE through its paces at Goodwood Festival of Speed is going to be a milestone moment for the whole team and Formula E,” James said. “We look forward to seeing Fernando take on the Hillclimb.”
