Lewis Hamilton has offered a detailed look at the five-year roadmap for his production company, Dawn Apollo Films, confirming that work is already underway on a sequel to F1: The Movie alongside several new projects.
Following the film’s commercial and awards-season success, the seven-time world champion is expanding his footprint in the entertainment industry with a structured, long-term creative plan.
After surpassing $630 million at the global box office and securing the Oscar for Best Sound, F1: The Movie has firmly established itself as a major success. A sequel, therefore, was always likely — and Hamilton has now confirmed that development is progressing.
"I'm just in the process of putting together this thing called Apollo, which is a production company I started," Hamilton explained.
"We're working on the second script now, so we had the first meetings with it in the mid-part of last year, and we already have kind of a first draft of the direction we're going in. So that's going to take time."
The update confirms that while the sequel is moving forward, it remains in development, with the creative direction still being refined.
The original film followed nomadic driver Sonny Hayes, portrayed by Brad Pitt, as he returned to Formula 1 to support the struggling fictional APXGP team alongside rookie Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris. At this stage, it remains unclear whether the sequel will continue that storyline or shift focus to new characters.
Hamilton’s ambitions extend well beyond a single franchise. The Ferrari driver confirmed that multiple additional projects are in development, including scripted and documentary formats.
"But I have other things that are in the pipeline," he said. "I've got a couple of other scripts that I've been trying to get finished that are my own stories that I've come up with, or ideas that I've come up with. There should be a TV series. There'll be a documentary, at least one documentary."
Notably, Hamilton confirmed that he has written at least one documentary project himself, underscoring a hands-on role in shaping the creative output of Dawn Apollo Films.
He also made clear that this is a structured, long-term strategy rather than a short-term expansion.
"But this is going to be over the next five years, I would say."
Hamilton’s comments outline a deliberate five-year development window for Dawn Apollo Films, anchored by the F1 sequel but supported by a broader slate that includes a television series and documentary work.
With the first draft of the sequel already completed and multiple original concepts in progress, the production company appears to be transitioning from a single-hit success into a sustained creative operation.
While key details — including the direction of the F1 sequel — remain under wraps, Hamilton’s update makes one point clear: his involvement in film and television is not a side project, but a carefully mapped second chapter running parallel to his Formula 1 career.
