Formula 1's 2026 Austrian Grand Prix track map has been updated, giving fans a clearer look at how the Red Bull Ring will work under the new technical regulations.
The new layout highlights four Straight Mode zones around the Spielberg circuit, marking the sections where the 2026 cars will be able to switch into their low-drag active aero configuration. These zones are positioned across the Red Bull Ring's main acceleration areas, including the run to Turn 1, the uphill stretch toward Turn 3, and key sections through Sectors 2 and 3.

With DRS no longer used in its previous form from 2026, Straight Mode becomes one of the main tools for reducing drag on the straights. Unlike the old DRS system, it is not simply an overtaking aid for the chasing car, but part of the car's standard active aero behaviour on approved straight-line sections.
The updated Austrian GP map also shows the Overtake Mode detection point and Overtake Mode activation point. The detection point appears in the final part of the lap, before the activation area on the run toward the main straight.
That placement could be important. Drivers will need to stay close through the final sector to become eligible for Overtake Mode, potentially setting up attacks into Turn 1 or later on the uphill run toward Turn 3.
Overtake Mode replaces the classic DRS-style advantage with an electrical boost system. If a driver is within one second of the car ahead at the detection point, they can access extra electrical deployment on the following lap, giving them more opportunity to attack.
At a short, fast circuit like the Red Bull Ring, the combination of four Straight Mode zones and a strategically placed Overtake Mode trigger could make the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix one of the most interesting early tests of Formula 1's new racing format.
