PREMA Racing has confirmed Alex Powell will race for the team in the final two rounds of the 2026 F3 season, beginning at Monza before moving on to Madrid. The Italian outfit will field Powell alongside James Wharton and Jose Garfias after confirming Louis Sharp’s departure ahead of the Monza event.
The appointment gives PREMA a familiar driver at a critical stage of the campaign. Powell has already raced for the team in the junior categories, establishing a relationship that now continues with a step into Formula 3.

Powell’s record with PREMA includes winning the Italian F4 Rookie Championship in 2024. The American-Jamaican driver then finished runner-up in the 2025 UAE F4 season and is currently sixth in the 2026 Eurocup 3 standings.
That recent experience provides the platform for his F3 debut with only two rounds remaining. Rather than a full-season build-up, Powell will have to adapt quickly to a new level of competition while working with a team he already knows well.

His preparation will include running at the Madring test ahead of the final two rounds. PREMA’s Madrid event will therefore be an important opportunity for Powell to get up to speed before the season reaches its conclusion. The circuit’s preparations have also been covered in new images from the Madring ahead of Madrid’s Formula 1 debut, offering a timely reference point as the venue becomes part of the championship’s closing schedule.
Powell welcomed the return to PREMA and the chance to demonstrate his ability in F3.
“It means a lot to be coming back to PREMA. This team gave me my first opportunity in single-seaters, and returning for the final part of the F3 2026 season is a great opportunity to show what I can do. I can't wait to get in the car, and I’ll give it everything.”
PREMA Team Principal and CEO Stephen Mitas said the team was pleased to bring Powell back, pointing to the driver’s pace, racecraft and attitude as qualities that made him a strong fit for the remainder of the season.
“We're delighted to welcome Alex back to PREMA. He's a driver we know well, and one who has already shown us what he can do in F4. His pace, racecraft and attitude make him a strong fit to contest the remainder of the season, and we're looking forward to working together again.”
Powell’s immediate task is clear: use the test to build momentum, then make the most of his two-race opportunity in PREMA colours.
