One of the most celebrated driver-car partnerships in Formula 1 history is set to come back to life next weekend, as Jenson Button reunites with his 2009 championship-winning Brawn BGP 001.
The Briton will return to the cockpit of the car that carried him to a remarkable drivers’ title, in a season that has since become part of F1 folklore.
Button’s 2009 triumph came after former Ferrari chief Ross Brawn purchased the remnants of the Honda F1 team for £1 following its withdrawal at the end of 2008. From that extraordinary turnaround emerged the BGP 001 — a car that powered Button to a sensational world championship.

Next weekend, at the Goodwood Members' Meeting, Button will once again get behind the wheel of the very machine that defined his career, taking part in demonstration laps.
Although he has driven the car on several occasions since his title-winning season — including an appearance at Silverstone — this latest outing offers another rare chance to see the iconic white, yellow and black Brawn back in action with its champion driver.

Only three Brawn BGP 001 chassis were ever produced, each with its own place in the team’s brief but historic story.
BGP001/02: Famously used by Button throughout his championship campaign. This chassis is owned by Ross Brawn and has previously been demonstrated at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, as well as by Button during his Silverstone run.
BGP001/01: Driven by team-mate Rubens Barrichello for most of the 2009 season, including up to the Hungarian Grand Prix, and took victory in Valencia. This chassis was previously owned by Button before being sold to a private collector at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix.
BGP001/03: Raced by Barrichello to victory at Monza and campaigned through the remainder of the season. It was last on loan to the Silverstone museum.
The reunion at Goodwood will once again spotlight a car that achieved extraordinary success in a single season, and a partnership that remains one of the most iconic in Formula 1 history.
