Kimi Antonelli has revealed he would "love" to contest an endurance race alongside Max Verstappen in the future, as the Dutchman prepares for his upcoming appearance at the Nurburgring 24 Hours later this season.
With Verstappen set to add another chapter to his growing GT résumé, Antonelli has made it clear that the appeal of endurance racing is strong — particularly if it means sharing a car with one of Formula 1’s leading figures.
Verstappen will compete in the Nurburgring 24 Hours in May, between the Miami and Canadian Grands Prix. He is scheduled to drive a Mercedes AMG-GT3 run by Winward Racing and carrying Red Bull livery.
It will not mark his first step into endurance racing. The Dutchman previously won on his GT3 debut at the Nurburgring Nordschleife last September, underlining both his enthusiasm and competitiveness in the discipline.
His continued involvement in GT machinery has caught Antonelli’s attention — and sparked ideas of a potential collaboration.
Asked whether he would be interested in racing a GT3 car, Antonelli responded enthusiastically:
“That would be super cool.”
The Italian went further, openly entertaining the prospect of joining forces with Verstappen.
“I would love to do an endurance race with Max, together. I think that would be pretty awesome. It’s cool because we both have the passion for GTs.”

Antonelli’s connection to GT racing runs deep. His father, Marco, has competed in the category and serves as owner and team principal of AKM Motorsport, which has raced across various series. Antonelli explained how that background shaped his own interest:
“On my side it came from my dad with the GT team, and occasionally I go and test when I can.”
He also acknowledged Verstappen’s evident enjoyment of the discipline.
“Obviously Max as well has been really enjoying it. It’s really cool for him to do the 24 Hours of Nurburgring – I think it’s going to be a really cool event and definitely I’ll be watching it.”
Looking ahead, Antonelli made his ambition clear:
“It’s something that in the future I would really like to do, to race with him in an endurance race. I think we would be a really cool pair, and it would be a really cool experience.”
The Nordschleife, in particular, holds special appeal.
“It’s something that I’ve been considering as well. I’ve already asked to do a test at the Nordschleife, for example, because it’s a track that I love. I would love to be able to try it in the real world as well.”
For now, however, Antonelli’s immediate priority is his sophomore Formula 1 campaign.
He achieved a milestone at the recent Chinese Grand Prix, claiming his maiden victory and leading home Mercedes team-mate George Russell in a commanding 1-2 finish.
That result leaves Antonelli second in the Drivers’ Championship on 47 points, just four behind Russell at the top.
While endurance ambitions may be part of his long-term vision, Antonelli’s current trajectory in Formula 1 ensures that any future GT collaboration with Verstappen will have to wait.
