Max Verstappen will return to the Nordschleife for the qualifying races ahead of this year’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring, accelerating his preparations for one of endurance racing’s most demanding events.
The Dutchman made his first appearance at the legendary circuit last month and initially crossed the line in first place. However, despite sealing victory on the road alongside team-mates Jules Gounon and Dani Juncadella, the trio were later disqualified due to a tyre use infringement.
Verstappen’s entry into the 24-hour race had already been confirmed, but it has now been announced that the 28-year-old will return to the circuit sooner than expected.
Verstappen will be back behind the wheel on April 18 and 19, where he is set to join team-mate Lucas Auer for the qualifying races.
His availability for the event follows the cancellation of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which had originally been scheduled for the same weekend.
The additional track time offers Verstappen a valuable opportunity to build momentum at the Nordschleife. He will be aiming to add to his record at the venue, having claimed his first race win there late last year.
Preparations are already well underway. Verstappen was recently spotted lapping the circuit just days after the Japanese Grand Prix, underlining his focus on returning to the Nordschleife in peak form.
With competitive mileage accumulating and unfinished business from his previous outing, Verstappen’s early return signals clear intent ahead of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
