The Automobile Club de l’Ouest has confirmed that Silverstone will return to the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2027, ending an eight-year absence for Britain’s premier circuit and expanding the championship schedule to nine races.
The British venue last appeared on the WEC calendar in an event won by Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López. Its comeback is the only major change to a calendar that otherwise remains stable, with Silverstone slotting in as Round 3 on April 23-25.

WEC CEO Frédéric Lequien welcomed the move and credited the circuit’s leadership for helping bring the event back. “We are excited to be returning to Silverstone next season, and I would like to thank Stuart Pringle and the British Racing Drivers’ Club for making this comeback possible,” he said.
Lequien underlined Silverstone’s standing as both a historic motorsport venue and a demanding endurance racing challenge. “Silverstone is a venue steeped in motorsport history and boasts a long legacy of top-flight endurance racing, including eight hugely successful FIA WEC events from 2012 to 2019. It is a circuit beloved by competitors, and from a driving and engineering point-of-view, it presents a tremendous challenge.”

Silverstone’s addition reinforces a period of momentum for the championship, which has seen major marques return and fan interest grow. For a series built on manufacturer depth and long-distance credibility, restoring a British round gives the 2027 calendar added weight without disrupting its broader structure. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem described the championship as continuing to build strength through manufacturer involvement, fan growth and a stable competitive platform. “The return of the 6 Hours of Silverstone next season marks an important milestone for the championship,” he said.
He added that Silverstone’s comeback reflects the series’ wider trajectory: “Silverstone is a venue with a rich endurance racing heritage, and its return reflects both the continued growth of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the increasing global appeal of our sport.”
The season begins with the Official Prologue in Qatar on March 21-22, followed by the Qatar 1812km on March 25-27. Imola follows on April 9-11 before Silverstone’s return on April 23-25.
Spa-Francorchamps hosts Round 4 on May 13-15, ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 9-13. São Paulo runs on July 9-11, with Lone Star Le Mans on September 10-12, Fuji on September 24-26 and Bahrain closing the season on November 4-6.
