Barcelona WEC Preview: Hypercar and LMGT3 titles on the line

The venue may be a new addition to the FIA World Endurance Championship schedule, but it is already familiar with high-level endurance racing. In recent years, the circuit has hosted both the European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup.
At 4.657km with 14 turns, the track combines a long main straight and fast, flowing corners with more technical sections. That mix will test the cars’ overall capabilities and aerodynamic attributes, while the closely contested title fights give every result added importance.

The stakes echo the tight Hypercar contest heading into Fuji, with little room for error among the leading crews.
Hypercar: four crews separated by 20 points
Just 20 points separate the top four crews in the Drivers’ standings. Toyota and BMW have shared the largest portion of the season’s success so far and will look to turn the fight for honours into a two-way contest. Defending world champion Ferrari, however, could still spring a late surprise.

Ferrari has a potential home advantage in Miguel Molina, who comes from nearby Girona. Aston Martin’s Alex Riberas and Genesis’ Daniel Juncadella were both born in Barcelona, adding local interest to the Hypercar field.
The race will also mark Alex Lynn’s long-awaited return and seasonal debut with Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA. The British driver missed most of the campaign after undergoing surgery for a neck injury. Meanwhile, the #93 Peugeot 9X8 entry lists a ‘TBA’ alongside Paul di Resta and Nick Cassidy following Stoffel Vandoorne’s recent departure.
LMGT3 battle intensifies
In LMGT3, TF Sport’s #33 Corvette remains in front after winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this year. With time running out, rivals from Aston Martin, Porsche and Ferrari are pushing to reverse the advantage, setting up another high-pressure contest for supremacy.
The event’s entry list and key timings offer the next details for fans following the Barcelona weekend. FIAWEC+ is the championship’s official streaming platform, offering live and on-demand coverage of FIA WEC races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, wherever and whenever viewers choose.
