Hitech has confirmed Joshua Duerksen as its first signing for the 2027 FIA Formula 2 season, bringing the Paraguayan driver to the British team after three years in the championship.
Duerksen made his F2 debut in 2024 and has since recorded eight victories and 16 podiums. His run of wins has been covered in our report on his eighth Formula 2 victory.

The move gives Hitech an experienced race winner as the series prepares for a new car in 2027. Duerksen, who is also a Mercedes Development Driver, said he was excited to join the team and begin preparations for the campaign.
Duerksen targets further progress
âIâm incredibly excited to be joining Hitech for the 2027 Formula 2 season,â Duerksen said. He described Hitech as one of the strongest teams in the championship and said he was proud to have the opportunity to race for the outfit.

The driver also highlighted the incoming car as an added challenge. âThe new car for 2027 gives us another exciting challenge and Iâm really motivated to get started,â he said, adding that his aims were to keep developing, fight for wins and achieve the best possible results across all tracks.

Hitech welcomes proven race winner
Hitech F2 Head of Race Engineering Jan Sumann said the team was pleased to secure Duerksen, citing his speed and race craftâqualities the team had observed from the pit wall. Sumann also pointed to the driverâs development over his time in F2 and his ability to deliver results under pressure.
The engineer said Duerksenâs experience would be valuable as the team approaches the challenge of understanding the evolution of the 2027 car. He described the Paraguayan as ambitious and motivated, and said that despite already achieving a great deal in Formula 2, he remained hungry for more.
Duerksen is the first driver announced for Hitechâs 2027 line-up. The team has not yet confirmed its second seat. His record and championship experience give Hitech an established starting point for its preparations, while the new car presents a fresh development challenge for both driver and team.
