Ferrari unveils special all-black race suit for Charles Leclerc in Singapore
Ferrari has revealed a striking, special-edition black race suit for Charles Leclerc, which the Monegasque driver will sport at next monthâs Singapore Grand Prix.
Departing from the Scuderia's traditional scarlet red and white accents, Leclercâs bespoke design is almost entirely black. According to the Maranello outfit, the suit âembodies a night under the Singapore lights.â Alongside the overalls, Ferrari has also introduced a limited-edition cap scheduled to go on sale for fans on 5 October.
Fan Reactions Divided Over Bespoke Look
The bold aesthetic shift generated an immediate wave of reaction online. Several supporters praised the styling as âfire,â with one declaring: âThe Dark Leclerc era has arrived.â
However, the design also sparked curiosity and mixed feedback across social platforms. âNice, I mean I have no idea why theyâre doing it but⊠nice?â one user wrote on Reddit. Another suggested an alternative visual for the team: âDamn it'd be sick if Lewis had an all-white suit under the lights.â
Others took issue with the commercial styling and practicalities of the dark palette. âNobody asked my opinion, and it doesn't really matter, but my goodness is the HP logo ugly as hell. It looks so out of place every time I see it,â read one comment, while another noted: âGood thing the race is at night because that is going to be hot AF in daytime practice.â
Some fans directed sharper criticism toward the teamâs priorities: âFerrari should focus more on the fundamentals of grand prix racing and less on special race suits and helmets. Maybe then, just maybe, they wouldnât be so hopeless.â
Championship Standings and Upcoming Schedule
The design reveal comes during an intense phase of the championship campaign. Leclerc currently occupies fifth place in the driversâ standings on 167 points. He trails championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 125 points and sits 24 points behind his Ferrari team-mate, as Ferrari succession planning remains a prominent topic while Lewis Hamilton holds third in the order.
Formula 1 heads next to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on 24â26 September, followed by the Bahrain Grand Prix held in Malaysia from 2â4 October. The Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit will take place shortly after, running from 9â11 October.
