Formula 1 returns to the live-event format

Formula 1 will stage its 2027 season launch in Milan next February, reviving and expanding the live presentation format introduced by F1 75 Live at London’s O2 arena.

The 2025 event, hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall, brought all 10 teams and 20 drivers together for the first time at a dedicated F1 launch. It also gave fans an exclusive look at every 2025 livery during a one-night showcase.

F1 had been keen to repeat the concept, but did not hold a comparable event during the busy 2026 pre-season, which featured new regulations and three separate tests. The championship will now return to the format in 2027, with Milan selected as the host city.

‘F1 The Show’ set for February 18

The one-night event, titled ‘F1 The Show’, will take place on February 18 at an “iconic city venue” that has yet to be confirmed. The programme will feature drivers and team principals from all 11 teams, alongside music, entertainment and additional attractions that will be announced later.

The scale of the presentation represents a clear expansion from the previous launch. Rather than limiting the activity to a single evening, Formula 1 will also stage a three-day fan festival across Milan from February 18 to 20.

Further details on both events are expected at a later date. Tickets will go on sale later this year, while fans can already pre-register their interest. As with F1 75 Live, the Milan launch will be broadcast around the world, ensuring the event reaches an audience beyond those attending in person.

Milan already proving a strong F1 setting

The choice of Milan follows a week in which the city hosted multiple Ferrari events on the Wednesday before the Italian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc drew large crowds during appearances on the streets, underlining the level of interest Formula 1 can generate in the city.

That local enthusiasm has already been reflected in Ferrari’s high-profile Milan presence, and the 2027 launch will give F1 the opportunity to place the championship’s full team and driver line-up at the centre of that attention.
