Genesis Magma Racing will retain its six drivers for the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship season, choosing continuity as it prepares for its second campaign in the series. The team says the decision will allow it to build on the experience gained with the GMR-001 Hypercar during its debut year.

The two driving crews have not yet been confirmed. Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul said keeping the same drivers would preserve their knowledge of the car as Genesis works to make its next step. Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini also pointed to the working relationships formed between the drivers and the technical staff as an important part of the team’s progress.

The line-up includes André Lotterer, Pipo Derani and Mathys Jaubert in the #17 entry, with Mathieu Jaminet, Paul-Loup Chatin and Daniel Juncadella sharing the #19 car. Juncadella’s place in the programme for 2027 had already been confirmed the previous weekend.

Genesis made its WEC debut at Imola in April. The #17 crew scored points with eighth place at Spa-Francorchamps in the GMR-001’s second outing, then improved on that result in Texas last month. That progress was followed by a landmark pole for Jaubert at the 6 Hours of Barcelona. Jaminet qualified third in the sister car, shared with Chatin and Juncadella.

Exact crew assignments will come later

Abiteboul said the decision was based on what the team believes will help it advance quickly, with the drivers’ existing familiarity with the GMR-001 a key factor. Tarquini said the group had worked well together from the outset, both on track and alongside the technical team.

Genesis has not announced which drivers will share each car in 2027. Those pairings are due to be confirmed before the opening round of the season.
