Helmut Marko is poised to make his return to the Formula 1 paddock, taking on his first official role since departing Red Bull at the end of the 2025 season.
The Austrian, long synonymous with the Milton Keynes-based operation, confirmed he would not continue with the team into the following year, drawing a line under an era in which he played a pivotal role in its championship-winning success with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.

According to reports from OE24, Marko will now serve as an ambassador for the Austrian Grand Prix, marking a fresh chapter in his long-standing association with the sport.
The Austrian Grand Prix, held at Spielberg, has been a mainstay of the modern Formula 1 calendar since its return in 2014. Over the years, the circuit has provided the backdrop for several notable moments, including high-profile clashes between title rivals.
Marko’s new position ties him directly to one of the calendar’s most established and strategically important events, reinforcing his continued presence within the F1 ecosystem despite his departure from team duties.

Formula 1 confirmed last year that the Austrian Grand Prix secured a long-term extension, ensuring its place on the calendar until at least 2041. The commitment underlines the event’s significance within the championship.
The 2026 edition of the race is scheduled for June 28, forming the eighth round of the season. The weekend is now set to carry additional intrigue, with Marko expected to be back in the paddock for the first time since stepping away from Red Bull.
While his role will differ from the one that defined his career in recent years, his return ensures that one of Formula 1’s most influential figures remains closely connected to the sport — this time representing his home Grand Prix.

He’s a software engineer with a deep passion for Formula 1 and motorsport. He co-founded Formula Live Pulse to make live telemetry and race insights accessible, visual, and easy to follow.
