Max Verstappen will remain with Red Bull Racing until the end of the 2030 Formula 1 season after extending his contract with the team.
The four-time world championâs future had been one of the paddockâs defining questions for much of the past 18 months. Mercedes had shown interest in securing his services, while Verstappenâs response to the new Formula 1 ruleset added further uncertainty around his long-term plans. A possible Verstappen decision at the Dutch Grand Prix had already become a major storyline ahead of the Zandvoort weekend.

The new agreement settles that speculation. Verstappenâs previous contract, announced in 2022, was due to run until 2028 and included performance-related clauses. The latest arrangement therefore represents a two-year extension to that deal, securing Red Bullâs most important driver through the next four seasons.
The decision carries significance beyond the length of the contract. Verstappen has been part of Red Bullâs structure for the past decade, but the environment around him has changed markedly in recent years.

Helmut Marko, who played a pivotal role in bringing Verstappen into the Red Bull junior programme before his Formula 1 graduation, is no longer with the organisation. Adrian Newey and Christian Horner have also departed, removing three prominent figures from the teamâs recent history.
Verstappenâs race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, has additionally agreed to join McLaren no later than 2028. Against that backdrop, the new contract represents a clear commitment from both driver and team despite the changing personnel and the questions raised by the new ruleset.
Red Bull announced the extension on the eve of Verstappenâs home Dutch Grand Prix, which is currently scheduled to be the final edition of the event. The timing adds another layer to an already significant weekend for the team and its leading driver.
The team said it was âimmensely proudâ to confirm Verstappenâs extended stay, describing their relationship as âone of the most successful and defining partnerships in F1 historyâ. Red Bull also called Verstappen a âdefining partâ of its âhistory, identity and successâ.
With the contract question now resolved, Red Bullâs future remains anchored around the four-time champion through 2030.
