Max Verstappen faces a 100-kart showdown
The majority of the 100 karters preparing to take on four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen have been revealed ahead of the Max vs 100 event on Wednesday 16 September.
Streamed live on Disney+, the one-off challenge will see Verstappen attempt to fight his way through 100 opponents on a circuit purpose-built for the occasion at Silverstone. The 30-lap format places the emphasis on cooperation: the oppositionâs objective is to work together to keep the Red Bull driver behind them for as long as possible.
The event offers a sharp contrast to Verstappenâs usual single-seater environment. After his recent Spanish Grand Prix weekend, the Dutchman will swap Grand Prix competition for a crowded karting battle in which numbers, positioning and collective resistance will be central to the outcome.
Speaking during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend, Verstappen admitted that even he did not yet know exactly what to expect from the format.
âIâll just rock up and have a good time, to be honest. Letâs see how it goes. But yeah, itâs a lot of people,â he said.
âStarting from the back, itâs going to be challenging, but I hope I can catch them all. But we donât know yet. I donât even know the format at the moment. So I will just rock up and do my thing.â
Who is taking on Verstappen?
The confirmed names span motorsport, online entertainment, professional sport and media. The list includes YouTubers Zac Alsop, TGFBro, Manny, Paky TWC, Karol ZdÄba and TheGrefg, alongside streamers such as Tyrique Hyde, Caedrel, TheDonato, ExtraEmily, iiTzTimmy and Qucee.
Motorsport representation comes from Queen B, Gabs Djay, Joe Tasker, Bea Eguiraun, Tommo McCluskey, Drift Games creator David Egan, professional drift driver Si Hyun Park and esports player Jonathan Amaral. Automotive media figures include Larry Chen and Supercar Blondie, while sports journalists Nate Saunders, Joseph Brophy and Henry Robert Williams are also listed.
The sporting contingent features skateboarder Leticia Bufoni, stunt rider Sarah Lezito, climber Janja Garnbret, decathlon world champion Leo Neugebauer, cliff divers Molly Carlson and Aidan Heslop, mountain biker Matt Jones, motorcycle racer Billy Bolt and enduro rider Pol Tarrés.
