Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen is trading his open-wheel cockpit for a GT3 monster this weekend. The Dutch racing superstar is officially set to compete in the second round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS2) on Saturday, March 21. Taking on the infamous Nordschleife---lovingly known as the "Green Hell"---Verstappen continues to prove that his appetite for motorsport extends far beyond the Formula 1 grid.
Here is everything you need to know about his upcoming GT3 appearance, including the full timetable, his team setup, and exactly where you can tune in to watch the action unfold live.
Max Verstappen has long stated that racing in the legendary 24 Hours of Nürburgring is on his bucket list. After earning his Nordschleife permit and taking a victory in the NLS9 race late last year, Verstappen is stepping up his preparation.
For the NLS2 race, he will be driving a stunning Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo under the banner of Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing. He won't be tackling the four-hour endurance race alone; he's joined by a powerhouse lineup of GT racing veterans: Lucas Auer, Jules Gounon, and Dani Juncadella. This weekend's race serves as the ultimate test session ahead of the grueling 24-hour race scheduled for mid-May.
If you want to catch Max flying around the 24-kilometer circuit, you'll need to set your alarms. All the on-track action takes place on Saturday, March 21. Here is the official NLS2 schedule:
Qualifying: 08:30 CET / 07:30 UK
Formation Lap: 11:42 CET / 10:42 UK
Race Start (4 Hours): 12:00 CET / 11:00 UK
Race Finish: 16:00 CET / 15:00 UK
Unlike many top-tier motorsport series that are locked behind expensive paywalls, endurance racing at the Nürburgring is incredibly accessible for fans worldwide.
You can watch Max Verstappen and the rest of the GT3 field absolutely for free. The race and qualifying sessions will be broadcast live with English and German commentary on the official Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie YouTube channel (@VLNOFFICIAL) and the NLS website. The broadcasts generally feature incredible multi-camera setups, live timing, and thrilling onboard feeds, giving fans a front-row seat to Verstappen navigating the challenging twists and turns of the Nordschleife.
Additionally, due to the heavy Red Bull backing of Verstappen's GT3 venture, fans might also find exclusive coverage, highlights, and behind-the-scenes content on Red Bull TV and the Red Bull Motorsports YouTube channel.
Don't miss the chance to see one of the greatest drivers of this generation push a Mercedes-AMG GT3 to its absolute limits at the world's most demanding race track!
