McLaren unveils evolved brand identity to signal new era of ambition

McLaren has officially revealed a brand-new team logo, marking a strategic pivot as the organization prepares to conquer new territories in both the automotive and motorsport landscapes. The Woking-based powerhouse, founded by the legendary Bruce McLaren, has long been a cornerstone of racing history. In Formula 1, the team has established itself as one of the most successful constructors, weaving its name into the very fabric of the sport.
A Visual Evolution of a Racing Legacy
As the team celebrates 63 years of excellence, it has embarked on its “first chapter of what’s next.” The new visual identity, described as an “evolved identity,” maintains the iconic Speedmark—an essential piece of McLaren’s heritage—but introduces a refreshed colour palette and tone.

David Woodhouse, Chief Creative Officer at McLaren Automotive, noted that the change is driven by a constant desire for innovation. “Throughout our history, we’ve never been content to follow established paths,” Woodhouse stated. “This evolution of our visual identity captures that spirit. It’s a reflection of the journey we are on as a company... giving a physical expression to the ambition, creativity and forward momentum that is shaping our future.”
The rebranding is not a departure from the past, but a bridge to the future. Lou McEwen, Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized that the new identity remains deeply rooted in the original spirit established by Bruce McLaren in 1963. “This evolved identity perfectly bridges that proud heritage with our future ambition,” McEwen explained. “It celebrates the symbols and stories our fans, partners and team mates already know and love, while giving us a more connected expression of where we’re heading next.”
Mapping the Future: Hypercars and SUVs
This brand evolution coincides with a period of massive expansion for the McLaren group. The company is currently working on a significant diversification of its portfolio, which includes an upcoming WEC Hypercar entry—following recent developments like Lando Norris testing the MCL-HY hypercar—and the development of the brand's first-ever SUV.
By blending its racing DNA with new consumer automotive frontiers, McLaren is positioning itself to ensure its storied legacy continues to drive innovation for decades to come.
