Mitch Evans about his move to Opel GSE for Formula E GEN4 Era
One of the most significant driver shifts in the Formula E paddock is officially confirmed. After a monumental ten-year tenure with Jaguar TCS Racing, Mitch Evans is moving to the newcomer Opel GSE for the upcoming GEN4 era.
Ending a Historic Chapter with Jaguar
Evans’ departure marks the end of an era for both the driver and the British-based squad. Throughout his decade in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Evans has become synonymous with Jaguar’s success. His impressive statistics include 16 victories, 38 podiums, and 10 pole positions.
By the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, the New Zealander stands as the most successful driver in the history of the all-electric championship in terms of race wins. He was instrumental in Jaguar's early success, securing the manufacturer's first podium in Hong Kong in 2017 and their maiden victory in Rome the following year. Mitch Evans leaves Jaguar after a decade to join Opel GSE’s GEN4 challenge as he looks to cement his legacy in a new environment.
The Drive for GEN4 Success
The decision to move was heavily influenced by the transition to the GEN4 era. Despite his deep roots with Jaguar, Evans expressed a desire to test himself with a different organization and explore new technical challenges.
“GEN4 was a big reason why I wanted to move,” Evans explained, noting that the initial discussions with Opel and visits to their Satory facilities gave him immense confidence in their vision. “Opel is going to be a new team, a new brand coming to Formula E, but we have got high hopes and aspirations to hit the ground running.”
A New Partnership with Theo Pourchaire
At Opel GSE, Evans will not be alone. He will partner with Théo Pourchaire, the 2023 FIA Formula 2 champion. While Pourchaire arrives as a rookie in the category, Evans holds high expectations for the young talent.
“He’s achieved some amazing things, and he deserves this opportunity,” Evans remarked. “It’s an exciting partnership because he’s a rookie on paper, but he’s going to come in with fresh energy.”
As the championship prepares for its next technological leap, Evans remains focused on his ultimate goal: winning. While he remains realistic about the developmental challenges ahead, he is determined to ensure his hunger for success continues with Opel.
