Oracle Red Bull Racing has solidified its future driver line-up, confirming that Isack Hadjar will remain in the cockpit for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The Frenchman is set to continue his partnership with Max Verstappen, who recently committed his future to the team with a contract extension lasting until 2030.
The decision marks a significant vote of confidence in Hadjar, who successfully transitioned to the senior team in 2026 following a rookie campaign with sister squad Racing Bulls. Despite the historical difficulty of securing a permanent seat at Red Bull, Hadjar has demonstrated the speed and composure necessary to thrive in a high-pressure environment.
A Rapid Ascent in the Paddock
Hadjar's rise has been nothing short of impressive. Even after missing three consecutive races in Zandvoort, Monza, and Madrid due to injury, he maintains eighth place in the championship standings. This resilience follows a stellar run of form that included a podium finish in Monacoâhis first with Red Bullâand a remarkable streak of seven consecutive top-six finishes.
It is worth noting that Hadjar has managed these results while operating within what has largely been characterized as F1's third or fourth quickest car. His remarkable rookie turnaround has already caught the attention of the paddock as he prepares for his return in Azerbaijan this weekend.
Commitment to Development
Red Bull team boss Laurent Mekies praised the 21-year-old's work ethic, noting that his integration into the team has been seamless. âSince joining us at the start of the year, he has been superb on and off track,â Mekies stated. âFrom the very beginning, Isack immersed himself in the team, spending every minute at the factory with his engineers to develop the car.â
For Hadjar, the opportunity to learn from a four-time world champion is a primary motivator. âThere are so many talented people at the factory, and youâre aware of the privilege of driving for such an incredible team alongside a four-time world champion like Max,â the driver remarked.
While the senior team's plans are now set, the future of the Racing Bulls line-up remains undecided. With Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad both delivering strong performances this season, alongside rising talent Nikola Tsolov, the competition within the Red Bull junior ecosystem remains intense.
