

The FIA has confirmed that a spectator has died following a fatal incident during Round 2 of the FIA CODASUR Rally Championship at Rally Sudamericano Mina Clavero in Argentina. The accident, which occurred on Sunday, also resulted in injuries to two other spectators.
The incident took place when a rally car, driven by competitors Didier Arias and Héctor Núñez, rolled over into a designated spectator area. While both Arias and Núñez emerged from the vehicle unharmed, the impact of the crash proved fatal for one individual.
In an official statement, the FIA expressed its profound sorrow regarding the event. "The FIA is deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred today during Round 2 of the FIA CODASUR Rally Championship at Rally Sudamericano Mina Clavero, in which one spectator lost their life and two others were injured," the governing body stated.
The FIA further extended its condolences to those impacted by the tragedy: "We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, and our thoughts remain with all those injured and affected. We thank the emergency services and medical teams for their rapid response."
The governing body has committed to providing full support to the event organizers, the Automóvil Club Argentino (ACA), and the South American motorsport confederation, CODASUR, as they work alongside local authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The CODASUR Rally Championship is an FIA-sanctioned series that spans five South American nations, including Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Argentina. The championship is conducted under the auspices of CODASUR.
