When is the earliest Antonelli could win the World Championship?
Kimi Antonelli left the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix with a 102-point championship lead over George Russell. Antonelli finished third in the Grand Prix after taking fourth in Saturday’s Sprint, while Russell scored two points for ninth after crashing out of the Sprint.
Max Verstappen won both the Singapore Sprint and Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc finished second in the race, with Antonelli third. The provisional result puts Antonelli on 340 points and Russell on 238. Lewis Hamilton is third on 229, followed by Verstappen on 221, Leclerc on 215 and Lando Norris on 201.
Six Grands Prix remain, with a maximum of 150 points still available. Antonelli cannot clinch the title in Singapore, but the United States Grand Prix is now the earliest round in which he could become champion.
The Mathematical Landscape
Six Grands Prix remain after Singapore, leaving a maximum of 150 points available to each driver. Russell remains Antonelli’s closest challenger, but Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris are also mathematically in contention.
The leading standings after the Singapore Grand Prix are:

Piastri and Isack Hadjar are mathematically eliminated. Even with 150 points still available, Piastri could reach only 288 and Hadjar 247—both short of Antonelli’s current 340.
Singapore has not decided the championship
Antonelli scored 20 points across the Singapore Sprint and Grand Prix, while Russell earned two. That increased Antonelli’s advantage from 84 to 102 points. With six Grands Prix and 150 points still available, the championship remains mathematically open.
The earliest Antonelli can become World Champion
The earliest possible title-clinching round is still the United States Grand Prix in Austin (Round 18). Five Grands Prix, worth a maximum of 125 points, will remain after Austin. Antonelli would therefore need to lead every rival by at least 126 points after the race to secure the title.
Russell is currently 102 points behind, so Antonelli must gain at least 24 points on him in Austin to reach that threshold. Hamilton is 111 points back, making him another key contender: Antonelli must gain at least 15 points on Hamilton. A maximum of 25 points is available from the Austin Grand Prix.
One possible clinching scenario is for Antonelli to win in Austin while Russell scores no more than one point and Hamilton no more than ten. Antonelli would then have a lead greater than the 125 points still available, even before checking the margins to the other challengers. This is a mathematical possibility, not a prediction; the title could be decided later depending on the results.
