Zak O’Sullivan joins Paysafe Envision for Formula E Season 13
Zak O’Sullivan earns full-time Formula E seat
Paysafe Envision Formula E Team has confirmed that Zak O’Sullivan will join its full-time driver line-up for Season 13, completing his progression from development driver to race competitor as the championship prepares to enter the GEN4 era.
The 21-year-old Briton has spent the past year working closely with the team through simulator duties and several rookie tests. His first Formula E appearance came ahead of the Season 11 Jeddah E-Prix, where he took part in the Rookie Free Practice session. He subsequently drove the GEN3 Evo in rookie sessions in Berlin, Miami and Madrid during Season 12, and topped the timesheets in Miami.
The announcement follows the team’s wider preparations for the next generation of Formula E machinery. Maximilian Günther’s move to Paysafe Envision for the GEN4 era provides further context for the team’s developing line-up, while O’Sullivan’s promotion adds a clear investment in emerging talent.
“I am very excited to be joining the team full-time for the upcoming season,” O’Sullivan said. “I’ve spent the last year embedding myself into the team and can’t wait to get the season started in the new GEN4 car. Formula E is a championship I’ve had my sights set on for a long time, so to be joining the grid for Season 13 at such an exciting time for the sport is a great feeling.”
A proven record across single-seaters
O’Sullivan arrives with a racing CV built across multiple categories. After recording numerous karting victories, he narrowly missed out on the 2020 British Formula 4 title before winning the GB3 Championship the following year.
He then spent two seasons in FIA Formula 3, taking four victories and finishing runner-up in the 2023 championship. His move to FIA Formula 2 in 2024 produced standout wins in Monaco and Spa-Francorchamps. More recently, he broadened his experience in Japanese Super Formula.
That record has demonstrated speed and adaptability, but his work inside Paysafe Envision has also given the team the opportunity to assess his contribution beyond race results.
“We’ve spent a lot of time with him during Season 12, and he has established himself in the team very well,” said Managing Director and CTO Sylvain Filippi. He added that the team had been impressed by O’Sullivan’s track performance and off-track commitment.
Franz Jung said investing in young talent was important to the team as the sport enters its new generation. With the driver line-up complete, Paysafe Envision is now looking ahead to the opening round of Season 13.
