Fernando Alonso is the oldest driver on the 2026 Formula 1 grid.

Born on July 29, 1981, the Aston Martin driver turned 45 during the season, more than 26 years older than the youngest driver on the grid.

Yet Alonso remains one of Formula 1's most experienced and enduring competitors. The two-time World Champion made his Grand Prix debut back in 2001, before several members of the current grid had even been born.

His future beyond 2026 has naturally become a subject of discussion, particularly after Alonso admitted that the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix could have been his final F1 race at the circuit.

Lewis Hamilton is the grid's second-oldest driver at 41, followed by Nico Hulkenberg at 39 and Valtteri Bottas at 37.

At the other end of the scale sits Arvid Lindblad.

The Racing Bulls rookie was born on August 8, 2007, meaning he turned 19 during his debut Formula 1 campaign.

Lindblad entered 2026 as the only full-season rookie on the grid and was still just 18 when the championship began. His age made his early performances particularly notable, including an impressive workload during Formula 1 pre-season testing in Bahrain.

Just behind him is Mercedes star Kimi Antonelli, born on August 25, 2006.

Antonelli turned 20 during a remarkable second Formula 1 season in which he established himself as a championship contender. His rapid rise has already produced several age-related records, including becoming the second-youngest Grand Prix winner in Formula 1 history.

Perhaps the most striking aspect of the 2026 field is the enormous range of experience represented on the same grid.

Alonso was already a Formula 1 driver more than six years before Lindblad was born. Hamilton had made his Grand Prix debut before the Racing Bulls rookie celebrated his first birthday.

At the same time, several of the sport's established stars are still only in their twenties.

Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc both turn 29 in 2026, George Russell turns 28, reigning World Champion Lando Norris turns 27 and Oscar Piastri is only 25.
