Andretti appoints Campbell Hobson as new team principal

Andretti has appointed Campbell Hobson as team principal, with Roger Griffiths stepping away from day-to-day leadership ahead of the 2026/27 Formula E season. Griffiths will remain with the organisation in a senior advisory position supporting Andretti Formula E and the wider TWG Motorsports portfolio.
Griffiths leaves a 12-season record
Griffiths has led Andrettiâs Formula E operation since the championshipâs inaugural season in 2014. Across 12 campaigns, the team recorded 13 race wins, 46 podiums and a driversâ title with Jake Dennis in 2023, while adapting through multiple car generations and manufacturer partnerships.

He described the change as the right moment to hand over the leadership role, while making clear he intends to remain involved. âLeading this team from the beginning has been one of the great privileges of my career, and Iâm incredibly proud of what weâve built,â Griffiths said. âAfter 12 seasons, this feels like the right time to pass the torch.â
Andretti Global president and TWG Motorsports chief operating officer Jill Gregory said Griffithsâ contribution extended beyond results, citing the team and culture he had built. She added that the transition would allow Andretti to build on that foundation while continuing to draw on his experience.

Hobson steps up from within
Hobson, an Australian who has worked closely with Griffiths on operations, personnel and on-track performance, is taking over from a position at the heart of the team. Andretti has presented the promotion as a natural progression, rather than a wholesale change in direction.
Gregory said Hobson knew the programme âinside and outâ and had earned the teamâs respect. Hobson, in turn, called the appointment an âincredible privilegeâ, acknowledging Griffithsâ legacy and saying he was grateful for the teamâs trust. âWe have a great group of people, a strong foundation and a lot of ambition for what comes next,â he said.
The new team principalâs first season will coincide with Formula Eâs move into its Gen4 era. Andretti is set to continue with Jake Dennis and Felipe Drugovich and will compete as a customer outfit partnered with Nissan. The teamâs Nissan partnership provides a further marker of the transition ahead.
Griffithsâ departure from the operational lead is significant after more than a decade at the helm, but his advisory role preserves continuity. Hobson inherits a proven programme at a moment of change, with the challenge of carrying its established foundations into a new chapter.
