Jos Verstappen hints at undisclosed agreements in Maxâs new Red Bull contract

Verstappen commits to Red Bull through 2030
Max Verstappenâs new Red Bull contract includes undisclosed âagreementsâ concerning the teamâs ability to produce a winning car, according to his father, Jos Verstappen.
The four-time champion has signed an extension that keeps him with Red Bull until at least the end of the 2030 season. The announcement brings an end to sustained speculation that Verstappen could leave for a rival team, particularly after reports of a performance-related clause that could have allowed him to trigger an exit.

The decision also follows Verstappenâs extension bringing the âsilly seasonâ to an early end, although Jos has suggested that the agreement contains conditions that will remain private.
Private clauses reflect public expectations
Speaking to Formule1, Jos confirmed that confidence remains within the Verstappen camp that Red Bull can return to the front of the field. However, he made clear that the long-term commitment is tied to the teamâs responsibility to deliver the performance Max expects.
âYes, there is confidence that we will get a winning car again at Red Bull,â Jos said. âBut to what extent they will actually manage that remains to be seen, of course; you never know.â
He added: âThat is something the team will have to take care of. Naturally, agreements have been made regarding this in the contract. We know what those agreements are, and Red Bull knows, and we are not going to broadcast them.â
The comments point to a clear balance within the deal: Verstappen has committed his future to Red Bull, but the teamâs ability to return to winning form remains central to the relationship. The exact terms, however, have not been made public.

Stability becomes the priority
Despite the continued uncertainty over Red Bullâs competitive recovery, Jos believes the new contract provides an important foundation for the team. He said Max wants a car capable of winning and stressed that restoring calm around the driverâs future was now the priority.
âMax wants a car with which he can win,â he said. âThat confidence is there. The most important thing at this moment is that calm returns on this front.â
Jos also praised Raymond Vermeulen, Verstappenâs manager, and Oliver Mintzlaff of Red Bull for their roles in reaching the agreement. In his view, the decisive factor was mutual trust.
âOtherwise, of course, we wouldnât have signed the contract,â he concluded.
