Lando Norris Extends McLaren Contract Through 2030

Norris commits to McLaren’s long-term project

Reigning Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris has extended his McLaren contract, securing his place with the team through at least the 2030 season and taking his association with the squad beyond a decade.

That momentum has reinforced the significance of the deal. As outlined in our report on Norris’s recent Dutch Grand Prix victory, McLaren has recently returned to the front of the field. Norris’s new contract ensures its reigning champion remains central to that continued push.

From junior driver to McLaren record-holder

His own explanation for the commitment was clear. “McLaren is my home, and I'm very pleased to be signing a new contract to keep me with the team until at least 2030,” Norris said.

“When I started this journey nine years ago, I was clear about the goals I wanted to achieve: to get McLaren back to the front and to win championships. We've achieved that goal, but we want more, we want to keep on winning, and we know as a team that we're capable of achieving it.”

McLaren keeps its core intact

The contract places Norris alongside Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen among the leading drivers committed through at least 2030. That date is also the planned end of the current engine rules cycle, unless an earlier switch to V8s is agreed for 2030.

McLaren’s wider leadership structure is similarly stable. Team-mate Oscar Piastri is committed through the end of 2028, while CEO Zak Brown and team principal Andrea Stella have both agreed new deals within the last two years.

Stella described Norris as an “integral” part of McLaren’s success, as well as a “special human” and an “exceptional driver”. Brown called his progression an example of McLaren’s commitment to identifying, developing and supporting world-class talent.

As part of the agreement, Norris will also receive the MCL39 from his 2025 title-winning year — a permanent reminder of his contribution to McLaren’s rise.
