Rodin Motorsport has confirmed that Niccolò Maccagnani will race for the team in Madrid, giving the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy member his first opportunity to compete in FIA Formula 3.
The 16-year-old will replace Christian Ho for the final round of the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season. A measured step up from Formula 4
Maccagnani’s promotion follows a season in Italian F4, where he recorded two victories and four podium finishes in total. Those results form the immediate basis for his move into the next level of single-seater competition, although the Madrid weekend will represent a significant change in category and responsibility.
Before competing in Italian F4, Maccagnani finished second in the 2025 Formula Trophy and placed fourth overall in the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship. His record therefore shows experience across more than one Formula 4 environment before the step up to FIA Formula 3.
A single-round opportunity
Rather than joining Rodin for a full campaign, Maccagnani’s programme currently covers the final round of the 2026 season. That makes Madrid both a debut and a tightly defined opportunity: he will have one event to adapt to the team and the Formula 3 machinery while competing at the season finale.
The move also places a Ferrari junior into a championship environment where every session carries added importance. For Rodin, the change brings a new driver into its line-up for the closing round; for Maccagnani, it marks the next stage of his development after a productive Formula 4 season.
His previous results provide the foundation, but the Madrid meeting will be the first occasion on which he can measure himself directly in FIA Formula 3 competition. The team’s confirmation settles the final-round seat, with Maccagnani now set to make his category debut in the Spanish capital.
