Opel reveals final GSE 27FE livery ahead of Formula E debut

Opel has unveiled the definitive livery of its GSE 27FE ahead of the carâs grand reveal at the Paris Motor Show. The design will represent the German manufacturer in its first Formula E season, refining the prototype look used throughout the teamâs testing programme.
Heritage recast for the electric era
Created by Opelâs global brand design team in RĂŒsselsheim, the livery is built around three blocks of black, silver and yellow. The palette draws on the marqueâs historic motorsport designs, reinterpreted for electric racing.

A new metallic silver stripe runs down the centre of the car, forming what the team calls the GSE 27FEâs visual âspineâ. Pixelated âLightspeed Stripesâ add another layer to the bodywork, using a design language Opel first introduced on the Mokka GSE Rally car in 2025.

Opel global brand design manager Pierre-Olivier Garcia said the livery translates the companyâs identity into a Formula E setting. âWith the final design of the Opel GSE 27FE, we show what Formula E looks like through Opel eyes,â he said. âAirflow becomes linework, energy becomes colour and efficiency becomes precision. Our motorsport heritage provides the DNA, German design provides the structure, and Formula E takes it into the future.â

Garcia also singled out the bright yellow accents, named Opel GSE Yellow, as central to the design. âIn Formula E, energy decides the race, and for Opel, energy has a colour: GSE Yellow,â he said. âIt is bold without being aggressive and technical without being complicated. Yellow means go.â
Evans backs the finished look
Mitch Evans will lead the Opel GSE Formula E Team alongside ThĂ©o Pourchaire, with Sophia Flörsch retained as test and development driver. The teamâs announcement adds another detail to Evansâs move to Opel GSE, with the New Zealander endorsing the final design.

âI think the final design looks fantastic. It builds on our concept and testing livery in a more refined way, while still feeling unmistakably Opel,â Evans said. He added that the silver gives the car a âsharp and sophisticated appearanceâ and, most importantly, âit looks fast.â
The final scheme keeps the conceptâs defining colours while adding a more polished central feature and a clear visual link to Opelâs wider design language. Its first appearance as the teamâs race livery now sets the visual identity for the manufacturerâs Formula E debut.
