Tom Dillmann takes ELMS Silverstone pole as Mercedes leads LMGT3
Tom Dillmann delivered pole position for the European Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Silverstone, placing the No.43 Inter Europol Competition car at the front of the LMP2 field. Adrién Closmenil qualified second in the No.37 CLX Motorsport entry, while Oliver Gray completed the overall top three for the No.29 Forestier car.
The result adds another key moment to a Silverstone weekend already carrying significant championship weight. As outlined in our ELMS Silverstone title-fight preview, every class remains undecided heading into the event.
Dillmann’s pole came despite the No.43 being placed under investigation for an unsafe release involving Benjamin Hanley in the No.22 car. Reshad De Gerus put the sister Inter Europol entry fourth, while Laurents Hörr placed the No.18 IDEC machine fifth.
Class-by-class qualifying
LMGT3
Abdulla Ali Al-Khelaifi was the dominant force in LMGT3, taking pole for the No.62 Qatari by Iron Lynx Mercedes with a best time of 2:00.011. He established the benchmark early and continued to improve with purple sectors, ultimately keeping the rest of the field out of reach.
Blake McDonald qualified second in the No.33 TF Sport Corvette, ahead of Francois Heriau in the No.59 Racing Spirit of Le Man Aston Martin. Duncan Cameron placed the No.55 Spirit of Race Ferrari fourth, followed by the No.57 Ferrari. The No.63 Iron Lynx Mercedes, No.75 Porsche, No.54 Porsche, No.77 Porsche, No.74 Ferrari, No.51 Ferrari, No.23 McLaren and No.86 Ferrari completed the order.
Heriau was later handed a three-place grid drop for impeding Martin Berry in the No.77. The No.50 AF Corse Ferrari did not take part after being withdrawn following its FP1 crash.
LMP3
Louis Iglesias secured LMP3 pole for the No.17 CLX Motorsport car after a close contest with Hugo Schwarze in the sole R-ACE GP Duqueine. Iglesias ultimately edged Schwarze by less than a tenth, with Matteo Quintarelli third for No.8 Team Virage.
LMP2 Pro-Am
Steven Thomas claimed LMP2 Pro-Am pole for No.14 TDS Racing. Georgios Kolovos made the CLX Motorsport No.47 a strong second, followed by Giorgio Roda in the No.30 Duqueine car. PJ Hyett qualified fourth for No.99 AO Racing, with Michael Jensen fifth in the No.20 Algarve Pro Racing entry.
The four-hour race will begin with Dillmann leading the field away, while Mercedes carries the clearest qualifying advantage in LMGT3.
