Charles Leclerc’s Friday pace makes the United States Grand Prix pole-position market worth a closer look. Ferrari led both practice sessions, yet Max Verstappen remains the favourite ahead of qualifying at the Circuit of the Americas.

The distinction matters: identifying the most likely polesitter and finding an attractive price are different judgments.

How the qualifying market stands

The published odds put Verstappen at 5/4 (2.25), with Leclerc and Kimi Antonelli both 7/2 (4.50). George Russell, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton follow at 10/1 (11.00).

Those prices imply break-even probabilities of approximately 44.4% for Verstappen and 22.2% for either Leclerc or Antonelli, before adjusting for bookmaker margin.

Verstappen’s successive poles support his favourite status. His Singapore qualifying victory ahead of both Ferraris demonstrates why one strong Ferrari Friday cannot settle the argument.

Leclerc offers the stronger challenge

Leclerc at 7/2 is the more interesting pole proposition on Friday’s evidence. His speed through Austin’s corners suggests Ferrari has a credible platform, while recent front-row performances show he has been close to converting that potential.

The uncertainty is whether Ferrari can preserve its advantage as rivals refine their setups. Practice establishes competitiveness; qualifying demands a clean lap at precisely the right moment.

The gap between Leclerc’s price and Verstappen’s therefore deserves scrutiny, without treating the Ferrari driver’s practice sweep as a guarantee.

Hadjar’s top-six prospects depend on a recovery

Isack Hadjar is quoted around 4/5 (1.80) to qualify in the top six. That implies a break-even probability of roughly 55.6%, making this a bet that requires confidence in improvement.

His Friday positions—14th and ninth—offer limited reassurance. Setup difficulties and deleted laps complicated his running, leaving a clear need for progress before qualifying.

Our report on Hadjar’s Austin setup problems outlines that uncertainty.

A stronger final practice would support the recovery case. Continued balance problems would weaken it, regardless of Red Bull’s underlying potential.

Leclerc’s pole price presents the clearer argument; Hadjar’s top-six market needs more evidence. Check final-practice form and the bookmaker’s settlement rules before assessing either selection.
