What's the weather for the 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix?

The 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix is forecast to unfold in largely sunny, dry conditions, with only Friday afternoon carrying a greater chance of rain. Showers remain unlikely even then, leaving teams with a mostly stable weather picture at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

Friday brings the only notable rain risk

Friday’s first practice is expected to take place in temperatures of 21°C to 23°C, with sunny spells and a light northerly breeze. Conditions should become warmer for FP2, reaching 26°C, when the forecast indicates a higher chance of rain than at any other point in the weekend. The session is still expected to remain dry.

Saturday looks cooler during final practice, with temperatures around 20°C to 21°C, sunshine and a gentle northerly wind. Qualifying is forecast to be warmer at 25°C, with sunny skies and somewhat stronger winds than in FP3, though still described as gentle. Sunday sunshine leaves tyre management in focus

Race day is expected to bring sunshine and a temperature of 24°C, with no rain forecast. That should give teams a consistent set of conditions to work with across the race weekend.

The circuit sits at more than 2,200 metres above sea level, where thin air reduces downforce and puts added strain on cooling systems and turbochargers, irrespective of the ambient temperature. The settled outlook may therefore help teams concentrate on those demands without needing to react to changing weather.

Pirelli has nominated the C3, C4 and C5 compounds, its softest three options, for the event. With dry conditions expected, teams can focus on tyre degradation and graining rather than grip changes caused by shifting weather. Our guide to the Mexico City surface and tyre selection looks at the other factors shaping tyre preparation for the weekend.

Friday’s possible shower threat is the forecast’s main caveat, but the outlook points to little interruption from the weather once running begins. Practice, qualifying and the race are all expected to take place in broadly bright conditions.
