Woohyun Shin to remain with Hitech for 2027 FIA Formula 3 season

Hitech has confirmed that Woohyun Shin will remain with the team for the 2027 FIA Formula 3 season, giving the South Korean driver a second consecutive full campaign with the British outfit.
Shin raced for Hitech in 2026 and will return with the benefit of a seasonâs experience in the championship. The announcement adds another name to Hitechâs 2027 Formula 3 plans, following the teamâs confirmation that Keanu Al Azhari will also join its line-up.

Shin opts for continuity
The decision follows a junior record that includes third place in the 2025 Euroformula Open Championship. Shin improved on his fifth-place finish in the same series in 2024, and also took fourth in the 2024 Formula Regional Oceania Championship.
Shin said he was pleased to return to a familiar environment, believing another season would give him more opportunity to address the demands of FIA Formula 3.

*âThere are particular aspects to the FIA Formula 3 championship that make it very competitive and challenging. I felt that there would be more to come from me by staying another year and further working on those areas in a familiar environment.
âI want to thank the team for believing in me and making it possible to continue our journey together.â
Hitech backs a second season
Hitech F3 Team Manager Paul Bellringer described Shinâs first full campaign back in the championship as an important learning process. He said the driver had needed to adapt to the car, tyres, level of competition and demands of racing in FIA Formula 3, and that experience would be valuable in his second year.
Bellringer also pointed to Shinâs previous time with Hitech and said the team believes there is more potential to unlock. With continuity in place, the outfit expects to build on the work already completed together and support the driverâs development through 2027.
For Shin, the renewed deal offers a clear target: convert the lessons of his first full season into progress in his second. Hitechâs decision to retain him reflects its belief that a continued partnership can help him take that next step.
