ART Grand Prix confirm Tuukka Taponen for 2027 Formula 2 campaign

ART Grand Prix have officially announced the signing of Tuukka Taponen for the 2027 FIA Formula 2 season. The move sees the highly-rated Finn step up to the premier feeder category following an impressive trajectory through the junior formulae.

A Stellar Rise Through the Ranks

The 19-year-old is no stranger to the ART Grand Prix environment, having competed with the team during his rookie F3 season in 2025, where he also secured three podiums. His ascent is underpinned by a successful stint in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship, where he claimed the 2024 title and finished third in the European leg of the competition.

Looking Ahead to 2027

As the category prepares for technical shifts, Taponen expressed confidence in his ability to compete at the highest level immediately. The upcoming season will see the introduction of a new car version alongside regulation changes, a move expected to level the playing field across the grid.

“I believe we have a good chance of fighting for the front positions right away,” Taponen commented. “ART is a team I know well, and I know how they work. It's also great to return to a team that already knows me and wanted me back. I'm confident I'll get the support I need from the team to take this next step and pursue my goal of reaching Formula 1.”
