Formula E Redefines Sporting Impact with 241% Surge in Social Value
Formula E has officially released its 2024/25 Season Sustainability Report, revealing a massive 241% year-over-year increase in social impact. Operating as a progressive challenger that refuses to compromise on performance, the Championship is proving that high-octane electric racing and meaningful social change are inextricably linked.
By leveraging a socio-economic framework developed alongside Deloitte, the Championship has successfully translated its trackside innovation into measurable value for host cities. This strategic approach has resulted in an estimated €5.6 million in total social value contribution, yielding a Social Return on Investment (SROI) of 2.7.

A Multi-Faceted Approach to Progress
The report highlights that the 2024/25 season positively impacted over 86,000 people, more than tripling the reach of the previous year. This expansion was driven by four core pillars:
STEM Education and Empowerment
The flagship Driving Force initiative, presented in partnership with PIF, reached 61,678 pupils. Through teacher lesson plans and hands-on workshops in Jeddah, Miami, and London, the program connected electric racing to real-world sustainability challenges. Notably, Formula E and PIF expand Driving Force education programme worldwide to ensure these lessons reach future changemakers. Surveys indicate that 77% of participants gained a better understanding of technology’s positive impact, with two-thirds inspired to pursue careers helping people and the planet.

Community and Career Inclusion
The €250,000 Better Futures Fund supported 8,847 beneficiaries, focusing on systemic inequalities and empowering underserved communities. Furthermore, the FIA Girls on Track program saw 1,272 participants, with 50% of young women reporting increased interest in motorsport careers. To bridge the gap between the paddock and the public, Community Tours welcomed 3,503 local residents into the heart of the pit lane.
Supporting the Green Economy
The transition to a low-carbon society is driven by human capital. Formula E events supported an estimated 680 sustainability-focused roles, nurturing talent across the sustainable economy and motorsport supply chains.
Unrivaled Sustainability Leadership
Beyond social metrics, Formula E continues to dominate the environmental landscape. For the fourth consecutive year, it was named the world’s most sustainable sport by the Global Sustainability Benchmark in Sport (GSBS), scoring 85%—significantly outperforming the industry average of 57%.
The Championship also became the first sport globally to achieve certification under the BSI Net Zero Pathway. This validates its rigorous emissions targets, including a 50% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions and a 27.5% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030.
“Our mission has always been about accelerating progress,” stated Julia Pallé, Vice President of Sustainability, Formula E. “In Season 11, we set out to bring that same standard of accountability to our social footprint... demonstrating the tangible difference sport can make in host communities.”
