Formula E and PIF have expanded the Driving Force education programme with a new online platform intended to give young people around the world greater access to STEM and sustainability learning through electric motorsport.
The initiative, presented by PIF, brings students, parents and educators together in a single digital destination. Each audience receives a tailored experience, extending the programme beyond its original school-based format and making its resources available on demand.

Driving Force was introduced in April 2025 in Miami during the 2024/25 Formula E season. It initially operated through three channels: live school workshops, teacher lesson plans and online learning. Since its launch, teacher-led content and workshops have reached 111,200 young people across more than 1,100 schools in the United States, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.
The new platform is built around Formula E’s recently unveiled Gen4 car, which is set to make its competitive debut in the upcoming campaign. The car gives users a focal point for exploring the technology and sustainability principles associated with the series, while also introducing the career pathways connected to those fields.

That approach reflects Formula E’s wider effort to use its racing platform as an accessible entry point into innovation and future mobility. The focus on Gen4 also arrives as the championship prepares for a new technical chapter; readers can find further context in Formula E Gen4 set to retain peloton-style racing in feature events.
Students can work through interactive challenges, quizzes, games and rewards. Parents receive material designed to help support their children’s interest in STEM careers, while educators gain ready-to-use lesson plans and classroom resources covering STEM and sustainability.
The expansion comes against an educational gap identified in research by Engineering UK. While eight in ten parents believe their children are interested in a STEM career, only 32% of students say they have enough knowledge about the opportunities available to them.
“Driving Force Presented by PIF was designed to inspire and empower the next generation of sustainability leaders,” said Mohamed AlSayyad, PIF’s Head of Corporate Brand. He said the programme’s reach demonstrates PIF’s commitment to partnerships with transformational impact in Saudi Arabia and globally.
Formula E’s VP of Sustainability, Julia Palle, said the Gen4-based content would bridge the gap between elite motorsport and the classroom through gamified learning, with the aim of preparing the next generation for innovation.
