Lando Norris launches LN4 Fusion team and fully funded driver programme

Norris targets the full junior single-seater ladder

Lando Norris has co-founded LN4 Fusion, a new racing team designed to support young drivers on the route towards Formula 1. The project will compete in the Italian F4 championship, the FIA Formula Regional European Championship and F3 next season, while also targeting a future entry into F2.

The organisation has already started a British F4 testing programme as it works to secure a place in the category. Its ambitions place LN4 Fusion across several key stages of the junior single-seater ladder — a structure whose importance was recently highlighted in this Formula 3 title-fight preview.

Norris has also launched the LN4 Legacy Programme, a fully funded young-driver scheme led by former Alpine sporting director Julian Rouse. Together, the race team and development programme are intended to address both sides of the challenge facing emerging talent: gaining competitive experience and accessing the support needed to progress.

“I want to create opportunities for the next generation, both on and off the track, and hopefully make a real difference to young drivers coming through the sport,” Norris said.

Building the structure behind the drivers

Norris’s own progression was supported first by his family and later by McLaren. That experience has shaped the reasoning behind the new projects, with the McLaren driver stressing that speed alone is not enough to reach Formula 1.

“I’ve been really lucky to have some amazing people around me throughout my career, and I know that getting to Formula 1 takes so much more than just talent,” he said. “You need the right people around you, the right support and the right opportunities at the right time.”

LN4 Fusion has secured investment from a group led by Dan Richards and acquired selected assets from the AIX Racing operation, which holds an F3 racing licence until the end of 2027. The team has also begun the application process for F2.

Rene Rosin will serve as team principal, supported by engineer Guillaume Capietto. Rosin’s appointment brings a figure credited with more than 40 junior championships at various levels, while Capietto is another long-time Prema figure.

The European headquarters will be in Veneto, northern Italy, where a new facility is under construction. A British base in Cambridgeshire will be run by Dan Hazlewood, whose Fusion Motorsport karting team has won multiple national and international titles.

“The objective from the beginning has been to build this properly and for the long term,” said Richards, LN4 Fusion’s CEO.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali also backed the initiative, describing Norris’s involvement as an important statement about the role of Formula 3 and Formula 2 in Formula 1’s future.
