Legends of Le Mans confirmed as support series for 2027 24 Hours of Le Mans

Historic endurance machinery will take centre stage once again as the Legends of Le Mans support series confirms its return for the 2027 motorsport season. Organised by Peter Auto in partnership with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) and the FIA World Endurance Championship, the championship provides a dedicated platform for iconic sports cars that shaped previous eras of long-distance racing.

Bridging Endurance Heritage and Modern Performance

Legends of Le Mans is designed as an active revival rather than a static celebration, removing historic race cars from museums and placing them directly back into competitive action. The initiative builds a clear bridge between distinct eras of endurance engineering. While vintage prototypes and GTs showcase decades of classic development, modern Hypercars and LMGT3 machinery represent the cutting edge of contemporary endurance racing.

For motorsport spectators and newcomers alike, these curtain-raiser events provide a direct comparative look at the rapid evolution of endurance chassis, powertrains, and aerodynamics over recent decades.

Full 2027 Global Support Calendar Confirmed

The French marquee race at Circuit de la Sarthe forms the centrepiece of an extensive global schedule for 2027, serving as an official support fixture across multiple FIA WEC rounds.

The 2027 campaign begins in March with the official Peter Auto Test Days at Circuit Paul Ricard. Racing action then commences in April at Imola, followed by a trip to the high-speed Ardennes circuit of Spa-Francorchamps in May.

After headlining the support bill at Le Mans in June, the championship will travel internationally for its season conclusion, staging its final round alongside the FIA WEC season finale in Bahrain in November 2027. Each round gives fans the chance to experience the classic sights and sounds of machinery that continues to race decades past its original competitive heyday.
