Mattia Colnaghi will make his second Formula 3 start with Campos Racing in 2027 after finishing 13th in his rookie campaign.

Mattia Colnaghi signs with Campos for 2027 Formula 3 season

Mattia Colnaghi will remain in Formula 3 for 2027, joining Campos Racing for a second season in the championship after a promising rookie campaign.

The 18-year-old scored 54 points and finished 13th in the standings in his first F3 season. Campos confirmed his signing, bringing together a driver with titles in two earlier single-seater categories and a team that enters 2027 as the reigning drivers’ and teams’ champion.

Colnaghi brings championship experience to Campos

Before stepping up to F3, Colnaghi won the 2024 Spanish F4 title and the 2025 Eurocup-3 championship. He said his experience racing against Campos in previous categories had given him respect for the team and its record in feeder-series competition.

The Italian believes the combination of his first year in F3 and his earlier championship successes gives him a platform to target strong results. He is also looking ahead to post-season testing as the first opportunity to begin preparing with his new team.

Campos’ announcement adds to its 2027 driver plans. The team has also confirmed Ernesto Rivera for another F3 campaign, as covered in our report on Rivera’s return to Campos. The latest move gives Campos another driver with experience in the category as it builds its line-up for the season ahead.

Campos targets another title challenge

Team Principal Adrián Campos welcomed Colnaghi as a talented racer who has shown an ability to fight for wins and championships from his early steps in single-seaters. The team plans to work with him over the winter to prepare for what Campos described as a demanding season.

Campos said its objective is to keep fighting at the front and defend the titles it has secured this year. The team is confident Colnaghi can help in that effort, though his 2027 campaign will be only his second in Formula 3.

Colnaghi’s signing places a proven junior-category champion in a team with recent success at the top of the F3 field. Campos will now work through the winter preparation before the new campaign begins. For more on the championship’s team battles, see our coverage of Campos leading the Barcelona F3 practice session.
