Haas has confirmed that Esteban Ocon will no longer race for the team in the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship, with Rafael Câmara taking the seat alongside Ollie Bearman at the São Paulo Grand Prix.

The Brazilian will make his F1 race debut at his home event, bringing forward his first start after Haas announced him last month as one of its full-time drivers for 2027.

Ocon’s 2026 Haas campaign is over, while Câmara’s immediate assignment is São Paulo. The team’s announcement does not specify its line-up for the remaining rounds beyond Brazil.

Câmara’s Haas debut comes earlier than planned

In its official Instagram announcement, Haas confirmed the change and said Câmara would partner Bearman in São Paulo. The statement did not give a reason for ending Ocon’s race duties.

Câmara had already secured his longer-term place through a multi-year agreement. Our report on his confirmed Haas move for 2027 covered the promotion from Formula 2 and the testing programme that helped convince the team to sign him.

His first race now arrives before that full-season contract begins, with the home Grand Prix providing the setting.

A further change after the Mexico switch

The announcement follows Haas’s decision to replace Ocon with reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa for the remainder of the Mexico City weekend. Hirakawa took over alongside Bearman after Ocon had completed Friday’s second practice.

Haas has now gone further than a one-weekend substitution by confirming Ocon will not compete for it again this season. Câmara is the driver named for the next event; any arrangements for subsequent races remain to be announced.
