Maximilian Günther joins Paysafe Envision for Formula E’s GEN4 era
Maximilian Günther will join the Paysafe Envision Formula E Team for the 2026/27 season after leaving DS PENSKE, beginning a new chapter for both driver and team as the championship enters its GEN4 era.
The British-based squad will begin the campaign with a new Title Partner and an entirely new driver line-up. Against that backdrop, Günther brings eight seasons of Formula E experience and a proven record at the front of the field, having won seven E-Prix victories.
His first win made him Formula E’s youngest-ever race winner at the time, a record that was only recently surpassed by Taylor Barnard. That history gives the German a clear performance reference point as he looks to reset after a difficult 2025/26 campaign.
Günther finished 18th in the Drivers’ standings with 23 points, recording a best result of sixth. The move to Paysafe Envision therefore represents more than a change of team: it is an opportunity to start again with the championship’s most advanced car to date.
GEN4 raises the performance ceiling
GEN4 is expected to deliver a significant step in outright performance. The car can reach speeds above 335kph, accelerate from 0-100kph in approximately 1.8 seconds and complete 0-200kph in 4.4 seconds—1.5 seconds faster than its predecessor.
In race mode, GEN4 produces 50% more power than the current GEN3 Evo race car. In qualifying mode, it is expected to be an average of 10 seconds faster per lap than GEN3, while ATTACK MODE allows up to 600kW of power—representing a 71% increase in base output over GEN3 Evo.

Günther said the team’s environment, ambition, mindset and technical package with Jaguar convinced him to join. He believes the partnership has the ingredients to compete at the very top.
Paysafe Envision Managing Director and CTO Sylvain Filippi highlighted Günther’s qualifying ability, podium finishes and race wins. The team now expects to begin working with him ahead of pre-season testing in November, with Season 13 also bringing a new sporting format and a greater emphasis on outright pace and speed.
