Jake Dennis and Felipe Drugovich delivered Andretti’s first 1-2 finish in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship after a chaotic Lianxin Sanya E-Prix Round 11 that featured a Red Flag, two Full Course Yellows and repeated swings in ATTACK MODE strategy.
Dennis started from Julius Baer Pole Position and ultimately finished where he began, but the route to victory was anything but straightforward. The Season 9 World Champion claimed his second win of the campaign, and his second from pole, while Drugovich backed up Andretti’s first front-row lockout with second place to complete a defining day for the American squad.

The Andretti pair initially controlled the race from the front, managing energy while keeping Mitch Evans and the chasing pack contained. Pascal Wehrlein briefly disrupted that order, moving from sixth to the lead, though the push came with an energy cost.

The decisive pattern soon became clear: going later into ATTACK MODE carried the advantage. Dennis and Drugovich used overlapping boosts to reassert themselves through the middle phase, before the race was neutralised when Evans tangled with Zane Maloney at the hairpin, causing a traffic jam and triggering the Red Flag.

At the restart, Dennis and Drugovich again launched from the front, but Oliver Rowland and Antonio Felix da Costa both moved into contention through their own ATTACK MODE runs. Da Costa later received a five-second penalty for causing a collision at Turn 6, while Rowland’s promising race unravelled when he hit the wall late on.
Pepe Marti produced one of the drives of the race for CUPRA KIRO, climbing from 18th at the Red Flag restart to third after just 17 racing laps. It marked another podium after his Monte Carlo breakthrough and underlined a sharp turnaround.
Nyck de Vries finished fourth for Mahindra Racing, with da Costa classified fifth after his penalty. Nico Mueller, Jean-Eric Vergne, Taylor Barnard and Lucas di Grassi completed the points scorers, di Grassi making it three points finishes in succession.
Evans retained the Drivers’ World Championship lead by 19 points over Rowland, despite his damaged race. Neither Edo Mortara nor Wehrlein scored, leaving the top four in the standings largely frustrated. Jaguar still lead Porsche in the Teams’ standings, while a Porsche powertrain 1-2-3 strengthened the manufacturer’s title position.
Formula E now heads to Shanghai in a fortnight for Rounds 12 and 13 of the 2025/26 season.
