FIA Formula 3 unveils 2027 calendar with debut in North America

The FIA Formula 3 Championship will visit 10 venues across four continents in 2027, with Jeddah, Montreal and Istanbul joining the calendar as new destinations. The schedule marks the series’ first trip to North America and extends its international reach, while retaining a season-long run of events alongside Formula 1 and Formula 2.
The campaign begins in March with back-to-back rounds. Sakhir, Bahrain, hosts the opener before the field heads to Jeddah, where the 30-car grid will race at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit for the first time. Melbourne follows in April, ahead of Formula 3’s North American debut in May at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. The Championship’s role in developing emerging drivers is also explored in the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season guide.

Monaco returns in June. July then brings another consecutive pair of rounds, at Silverstone and Spielberg, before the summer break. The season resumes with Monza and Madrid, followed by a finale at Istanbul Park—the third new venue on the 2027 schedule.
New challenges for teams and drivers
The sequence places three first-time F3 venues at key points in the season: Jeddah early in the campaign, Montreal for the Championship’s first North American event, and Istanbul as the closing round. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said the calendar would give drivers “an exceptional range of challenges” in which to develop their skills, describing the North American visit as an important milestone.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said the expansion would bring fresh challenges for drivers and teams, and called racing alongside Formula 1 a valuable opportunity for young competitors to develop and showcase their potential.
Formula 3 CEO Bruno Michel highlighted the difficulty of adding three new venues, and welcomed the move to Montreal. He also said freight costs would be covered, as they are for Formula 2, so the calendar’s territorial expansion would not financially affect the teams.
With Jeddah and Montreal introducing new tests during the season and Istanbul providing its final destination, the 2027 calendar gives Formula 3 a broader geographical canvas while keeping the focus on driver development and competition across the full campaign.
