Formula E expands to 21 rounds for 2026/27

Formula E will contest its biggest season yet in 2026/27, with a calendar spanning 21 rounds, 13 events and 11 countries. The schedule also marks the competitive arrival of the championship’s GEN4 era, with its fastest and most powerful cars to date set to headline a campaign that blends established venues with three new locations.

The season begins after pre-season testing at Jarama from 16 to 20 November. Jeddah will then host a double-header of night races on 18 and 19 December 2026, opening the World Championship under the floodlights at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

Mexico City follows on 16 January, before the championship makes its first visit to the Circuit of The Americas in Austin on 6 February. Miami will host the second United States event a fortnight later, on 20 February, creating a significant month for American Formula E fans.

Three new venues reshape the schedule

The calendar’s expansion is particularly visible in its new destinations. COTA is joined by Brands Hatch and Zandvoort, adding fresh challenges to a schedule that also includes São Paulo, Sanya, Monaco, Berlin, Madrid, Shanghai and Tokyo.

The European leg begins in May and runs for 10 rounds across five countries. Monaco and Berlin will race on successive weekends, a first in Formula E history. The championship will then visit Brands Hatch for the first time, continuing Formula E’s racing presence in the United Kingdom, before heading to Zandvoort for the Netherlands’ inaugural event.

Madrid completes the European section on 26 and 27 June at Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE. The series then returns to China for its penultimate weekend at Shanghai International Circuit on 10 and 11 July.

Tokyo to host first season finale

The 2026/27 campaign will conclude in Tokyo on 24 and 25 July with a double-header of night races. It will be the first time the Japanese capital stages the season finale, following the Tokyo E-Prix’s inaugural race in 2024.
