The World Endurance Championship’s title battle resumes after the summer break at Circuit of The Americas, where the Lone Star Le Mans will open the second half of the 2026 season from 4 to 6 September. The Texas event features a six-hour race and a closely contested Hypercar fight between BMW and Toyota, with Ferrari still firmly in contention.
Cadillac will carry particular attention in front of its home crowd. Following its difficult outing in São Paulo, the General Motors brand has called up local driver Ricky Taylor to race the #12 V-Series.R in place of Alex Lynn, who is scheduled to return for the final two rounds. Cadillac’s car has demonstrated greater competitiveness in different situations, raising expectations for a stronger weekend.
Genesis Magma Racing has also placed COTA at the centre of its development programme. The team recently completed an important test at the circuit with its GMR-001. After the race, Genesis will join Ferrari and Aston Martin for private testing on Tuesday and Wednesday. Ferrari and Aston Martin have recently started developing evolutions of their 499P and Valkyrie for 2027. The LMGT3 contest is equally significant for Corvette Racing. TF Sport’s #33 Z06 GT3.R, driven by Jonny Edgar, currently leads the class, and the team will be aiming to convert its championship advantage into a strong result before its home supporters.
The reigning champions remain within reach: the #92 Porsche-Manthey entry of Riccardo Pera and Richard Lietz trails Corvette by 27 points. BMW-WRT, Ferrari-AF Corse, Lexus-ASP and the Ford-Proton cars will also be central to the fight.
Track action begins on Friday with two 90-minute free practice sessions. Saturday brings a final 60-minute practice session before LMGT3 and Hypercar qualifying and Hyperpole. The race starts at 13:00 CDT on Sunday 6 September and runs until 19:00.
