WEC changes LMGT3 teams’ scoring from 2027
The FIA WEC will combine both cars’ points under one competitor licence to decide the LMGT3 Teams’ championship from 2027.

FIA WEC will combine the points scored by both cars entered under the same competitor licence when deciding the LMGT3 Teams’ standings from 2027. The change replaces the current system, in which each car scores separately under its race number.
Under the revised format, the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 Teams will go to the competitor whose two entries collect the highest combined total across the season. The update was announced at this week’s Autumn reunion of the FIA World Motor Sport Council.
Both entries will count towards one team total
At present, points earned by each car are recorded independently. From 2027, results from both cars under a single competitor licence will be added together for the championship classification.

That makes the two-car team’s combined output decisive: a strong result from either entry will contribute to the same total. The rules change shifts the focus of the trophy from separate car-by-car tallies to the overall performance of each competitor’s pair.
The revised approach will apply to the production-based LMGT3 category. The source announcement did not detail any other changes to the championship’s scoring arrangements.
Four contenders remain in the 2026 title fight
The current format remains in place for this season’s finale. The 2026 LMGT3 Teams’ crown will be contested at the 6 Hours of Monza, scheduled for 6-8 November, with four entries named as contenders.

They are TF Sport’s #33 Corvette, The Bend Manthey’s #92 Porsche, Racing Team Turkey by TF’s #34 Corvette and Team WRT’s #69 BMW. The #92 Porsche arrives as a Barcelona winner; the Barcelona WEC title-battle preview provides further coverage of the championship picture. Manthey’s form has also featured in our report on its LMGT3 title charge.
With the scoring change still ahead, the Monza contest will be decided under the existing car-by-car system. From next season, however, a competitor’s title bid will depend on the combined points from both of its entries.
