Toyota and Corvette defend their leads as WEC returns to Monza

Three championships remain undecided as the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship concludes at Monza on 6–8 November. Toyota’s crews will settle the Hypercar drivers’ title between them, while Corvette heads into the LMGT3 decider with Porsche and BMW still in contention.

The circuit returns to the calendar for the first time since 2023. Its 5.793km layout combines long straights with slow chicanes, demanding aerodynamic efficiency without sacrificing braking stability or traction.

Toyota’s #8 arrives ahead, but #7 has Monza history

Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryō Hirakawa hold a 17-point advantage over the sister Toyota of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries.

Their Barcelona one-two secured Toyota’s manufacturers’ championship, leaving the drivers free to contest the remaining title. Kobayashi has confirmed there will be no team orders.

Conway and Kobayashi were part of Toyota’s winning line-ups at Monza in 2021 and 2023, starting both races from pole. Conway now faces his final professional race, with the chance to leave as a three-time world champion.

Toyota has won every WEC season finale since 2017. Extending that sequence would give one of its crews the strongest possible finish to the campaign, although championship position and race victory remain separate targets.

Ferrari seeks a home win as Alpine prepares to leave

Ferrari’s title defence is over, but second place in the manufacturers’ standings remains within reach. The Italian marque trails BMW by 24 points, with Cadillac also in contention for runner-up honours.

The #50 Ferrari of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen finished third in Barcelona. As our look at Ferrari’s Monza ambitions explains, the team now wants to turn that podium into a stronger result at home.

Alpine also has a farewell to mark. Monza is scheduled to be the marque’s 80th and final WEC event, at a circuit where its #36 entry won in 2022.

Edgar could claim the LMGT3 drivers’ title alone

TF Sport’s #33 Corvette leads the LMGT3 contest, but its drivers do not share identical championship positions. Jonny Edgar could become sole drivers’ champion, because team-mates Nicky Catsburg and Ben Keating missed part of the season.

The closest challenge comes from The Bend Manthey’s #92 Porsche. Victory in Barcelona brought Riccardo Pera, Richard Lietz and Yasser Shahin within 18 points of the championship lead, with 26 available at Monza.

Lietz is also set to make his 100th WEC start. Manthey is chasing a third consecutive LMGT3 title, while the #34 Racing Team Turkey by TF Corvette and #69 Team WRT BMW remain contenders.

Practice begins on Friday 6 November. Saturday’s qualifying programme starts at 14:20 CET, before the six-hour race gets underway at 11:00 CET on Sunday 8 November.
